
DEBATE RULES:-
lTeam Composition:
1. Each team consists of 4-6 members.
2. Students should be grouped according to their class or age group.
lTopic Selection:
1. The topics should be relevant, engaging, and suitable for the student's age and knowledge. Topics can range from current affairs to social issues, technology, or environmental concerns.
2. The moderator or organizer can select the topic or allow teams to choose from a pre-listed set.
lTime Limit:
1. Each group discussion lasts for 15-20 minutes, depending on the number of teams and available time.
2. Every participant should get a chance to speak at least once, with no participant exceeding 3 minutes per turn.
lRole of Moderator:
1. A moderator is assigned to guide the discussion, ensure timekeeping, and ensure everyone has an opportunity to speak.
2. The moderator can intervene to manage off-topic discussions or too many interruptions.
lEvaluation Criteria:
1. Content Relevance: How well the participant relates to the topic.
2. Clarity of Thought: The ability to express ideas clearly and logically.
3. Participation: Active involvement from each team member.
4. Teamwork: Ability to build on ideas raised by others.
5. Respect for Others: Listening to others and maintaining decorum.
lDebate Structure:
1. Each team gets an opening statement (3-5 minutes) and a closing statement (2 minutes).
2. Rebuttals are allowed in between, where each team can respond to the points raised by the opposing team.
3. No personal attacks or offensive language is allowed.
